Castru Roman Arutela, located near Căciulata, Romania, stands as a significant remnant of Roman military history in the region. Constructed in the 2nd century AD during the rule of Emperor Hadrian, this castrum was part of the Roman defense system along the Limes Alutanus, a line of fortifications that protected the province of Dacia. Using state-of-the-art 3D scanning technology, we meticulously captured both the exterior and interior of this ancient fortification. Every stone and structural detail has been preserved digitally, ensuring the historical essence of Arutela is archived for future generations. Our advanced scanning techniques not only aid in historical preservation but also support restoration efforts, allowing experts to study and analyze the architecture in unparalleled detail. This blend of history and technology bridges the gap between ancient Roman military infrastructure and modern conservation efforts.
Using the Riegl VZ400i scanner, we completed a highly detailed 3D scan of both the interior and exterior of the Roman Castru Arutela in just one day. Our advanced scanning techniques captured the intricate details of this ancient fort with precision and speed. As part of this project, we delivered a comprehensive 3D model, along with accurate section plans, facades, and a topographic plan. This technology not only allows for precise documentation of the historical structure but also supports efforts in restoration and conservation, modernizing the way we preserve and study ancient architecture. Through this process, we are transforming the documentation of ancient Roman military infrastructure, ensuring it is safeguarded for future generations.
